God's Promises

I'm sitting now in my office in Naples, Florida, and a terrific storm is passing through: torrential rain and tropical storm winds. Even before it started I had it set in my mind to upload a picture I took last week when I was in Bimini in the Bahamas. It was a glorious display of God's palette. I had never seen a rainbow washed through the wisp of a cloud. Unfortunately, my photo doesn't due it justice because it was iridescent and shimmering from the deepest to lightest of rainbow colors.

God blesses us in many wondrous ways and promises never to to leave us. So when I am in a storm I can look to God's promise through his rainbows. "I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth" (Gen. 9:11,13). It was a promise to never flood the earth again, but I also see it as a promise that he'll never let the trials of the earth overwhelm us because he has promised, " Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you" (Deut. 31:60). Be strong. God promised he is with us even in the storm.
